What We Believe
The Orthodox Church. Almost two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth and founded the Church through His Apostles and disciples for the salvation of humanity. The Church follows the teaching of the early Fathers in an unbroken tradition.
The Church of the Apostles. The One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church was served in the ancient patriarchal centers of Rome, Constantinople, Antioch, Alexandria, and Jerusalem. We preserve the apostolic faith handed down from the beginning.
The Seven Ecumenical Councils. We hold the doctrines, canons, and traditions confessed by the Seven Ecumenical Councils and reject ecumenism, the Revised Julian Calendar reforms, and innovations contrary to the inherited faith.
Holy Tradition and Scripture. Scripture is received within the life of the Church, together with Sacred Tradition, the Holy Mysteries, the teaching of the Fathers, and the canons. “Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught.” (2 Thessalonians 2:15)
The Holy Mysteries. Baptism, Chrismation, and Holy Communion are given together. We venerate the holy icons, confess the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and honor the ever-virgin Theotokos. We celebrate the Divine Liturgies of Saint John Chrysostom, Saint James, and Saint Basil.
The Calendar. We keep the Old (Julian) Church Calendar with all the canons.
